Pros and Cons of the Nordictrack 1650
The C1650 is one of the most impressive mid-range Nordictrack models on the market. It’s not quite as high-end as Nordictracks Commercial treadmills – but built tougher than their starter models.
One very interesting note is that this year, Nordictrack made the console larger.
So the 1650 treadmill now carries one of the largest full-color, HD, touch-screen consoles that you can find on a mid-range treadmill – a full 10 inches across. This makes it easier to read your stats as you run – or watch iFit Workout scenery.
You also get an impressive 3.5 HP motor, one-touch controls for on-the-fly changes and a folding mechanism with lift-assist to save the strain on your back.

Nordictrack 1650 Treadmill UK Review – The Pros:
Extra-Large, Full-Color Console
This treadmill comes with a large 10-inch touch-screen console. You can see your workout stats in full color with a swipe of your finger.
This also makes it easier to read your workout stats like speed, time, distance and more.
You can also watch iFit Coach world scenery or video workouts from the console screen as well for some virtual reality-style fun. There’s also a dual-speed fan to keep you cool, tablet holder and an iPod compatible sound system.
Tough 3.5 HP Motor
You get a very healthy 3.5 HP continuous duty motor power – strong enough to power the treadmill easily for both runners or walkers alike.
Plus the heavy-duty drive system also has dual fans that help cool the internal components while running – with less noise and vibration. This helps to prolong the life of your treadmill and give you a smoother, quieter workout.
Explore the World with iFit
iFit is an online service that connects your treadmill to the Internet. From there you can do all sorts of fun things.
You can get daily streaming fitness classes broadcast directly to your console. You can also choose to run various famous trails all over the world – from Paris to Hawaii. You’ll see the actual trail you’re running as you walk on your treadmill – for a more “virtual reality” feel.
iFit can also track your workouts over time, graph them and show you how far you’ve come. You can even use the iFit activity tracker (free with membership) to track your other daily activity, movement, diet and even sleep patterns.
The best part?
While iFit is usually a monthly membership, if you get the Nordictrack 1650 direct through the Manufacturer, you can get a Free 1-year membership to iFit Coach included! So you can try it out for a full year to see if you like it – which is a pretty great deal.
The deck on this treadmill also comes with adjustable cushioning. So if you’re more prone to injury or shin splints and want a softer deck you just turn the cushioning up.
If you want a more road-like feel to your workout, you can easily turn the knob on the deck to turn the cushioning down.
Tablet Holder Above the Console
You can attach your own tablet to the bracket above the console and watch your favorite shows or movies as you walk. This is another handy option that can make your workouts a lot more fun.
iPod Dock with Speakers
The Nordictrack C1650 also comes with an iPod dock with speakers. So you can plug in your iPod or other audio device and listen to your favorite tunes through the built-in 2 inch speakers in the console.
Nordictrack C1650 Review – Any Cons?
If you decide to continue using iFit after the free year is up, there is a small monthly membership fee. You don’t need iFit to use this treadmill however – it works fine without it. iFit is just an optional add-on service.
You only get up to 12% incline with this treadmill – not up to 15% like you usually get with more commercial-grade models. Still, for most people this should be fine. If you want more of a challenge you may want to upgrade to one of the commercial models like the Nordictrack 1750 with a higher 15% incline.
We’re not really sure why the Nordictrack C1650 isn’t more popular. It gets overshadowed by flashy treadmills like the Commercial 1750.
But it’s kind of like the hidden gem of the Nordictrack lineup. If you want a high value treadmill for a decent price, it’s definitely worth considering.
You get strong construction like a tough 3.5 HP motor, reinforced deck and larger-than-average walking area. Plus you’ll also enjoy a few high-end features like the large HD console, tablet holder and iFit option.
