The X22i was recently introduced onto the market as the ultimate premium Incline Trainer model. The X9i was one of the original incline trainers and has been around for a few more years.
They both give you the famous 0 – 40% incline that can help you burn more calories than a regular treadmill.
They also both offer you up to 6% declines for extra crosstraining. And you can add iFit Coach to either one to get virtual reality training and tracking.
So how exactly are they different? And which is best for you?
Here’s a review of the key differences between them to help you decide which incline trainer is best suited for your home.
Nordictrack X9i vs X22i – Price
The Nordictrack X9i is the more affordable model of the two, coming in around £1999 with Free Shipping here. That makes it a better option if you’re on a budget.
The Nordictrack X22i incline trainer is the next model up – and the more commercial-grade of the two. It has a few more toys to it (which you’ll see below). Currently it runs around £2499 with Free Shipping here.
Nordictrack X9 vs X22 – Console
This is the main area where you see the biggest difference between the two machines. The X9i has a full-color, 10-inch wide, touch screen console.
You can watch the iFit scenery in full color, run trails all over the world – or check your stats with a swipe of your fingers. This is larger than most of Nordictrack’s other consoles and it’s a great plus to have on a treadmill.
The Nordictrack X22i however goes one better with a massive 22 inch touch-screen HD console:
This is like having a built-in TV in the console and it makes a huge difference when watching the iFit scenery and HD workout videos. The X22i console also tilts and reclines so you can find the best angle for you.
Nordictrack X9i vs X22i Incline Trainer – Motor
The motor is the heart of your treadmill. You want one that fits the scope of what you plan to do on your treadmill.
So for example if you are planning on longer or more intense workouts – or if there will be multiple people using the treadmill, you’ll want a higher powered motor.
If you’re planning on the occasional less intense workout, you’ll be fine with a lower powered motor.
The Nordictrack X9i comes with a 3.0 HP motor – which is pretty respectable and should be fine for the average user.
However the Nordictrack X22i trainer steps it up to a 4.25 HP Commercial Pro motor – which is excellent. If you want something a little more “heavy-duty”, then this is your better option.
Nordictrack X9i vs X22i Comparison –Arm Bars
The Nordictrack X22i has slightly upgraded and more finished handle bars than the X9i. This is a small difference – but something you may want to know.
So what’s the bottom line when comparing the Nordictrack X9i vs X22i Incline Trainers
While they both give you the ability to incline up to 40% and burn major calories faster than a regular treadmill. They are both also iFit compatible and give you full-color touch screen consoles.
The biggest difference is in the console – the X22i console is just massive and can give you a much more immersive experience since it makes all of the iFit scenery much larger to enjoy as you run.
The X22i is also made a bit tougher in terms of construction with a much stronger motor and a heavier machine weight. So it would stand up a bit better to longer, more intense workouts.
On the other hand the X9i has everything you need for an effective workout – and it’s a bit more affordable.
So at the end of the day it comes down to what’s most important to you.
